Once the papers are signed, MEPS has been done and they are sworn in they will become a Poolee. This is the time frame between the swear-in and when they step on the yellow footprints at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Sometimes it is only a few weeks but can be up to a year before that ship out date. Mine had less than a year between swearing in and the ship out date for boot camp. It does go by fast so enjoy every minute you can before they leave. During their time as a Poolee there will be functions to attend and plenty of physical training to help get them ready.
