Mom, I want to join the Marines

​I am a daughter of a Marine that served in the early 70s and a former step-daughter of a Marine Vet, It's all so different though when it's your own child that chooses to serve.

My journey started in September of 2019 when my son came to me and said, "Hey mom, I want to join the Marines." I was initially surprised and I tried to talk him out of it until after he graduated from high school, but his mind was already made up so I supported his decision. He had just started his senior year and had plenty of time to start that journey later if he could just wait until he was out of school, but his mind was made up and he was ready to get things rolling.
